PLoP fails to load CDROM driver

For testing purposes I used:
plpgenbtldr-0.7.zip, generated the loader, created boot.ini, configured boot manager binary to have cdrom as default, rebooted

I get Windows bootmanager menu (with Win7 & Plop)
Choosing Plop I select CDROM & no driver loads & no CDROM drive found message
It is internal slimline DVDRW IDE

I can of course boot directly to CD, but that is not what I need to test

Any ideas?

and what happened when you selected cdrom?

Exactly what I said "No CDROM drive"

& it stays there

sebus

Elmar

so the driver was loaded but it didn't find a drive.
are you sure its and ide drive and not a sata drive?

sebus

NO, NO driver gets loaded & no drive is found.
In fact it might be SATA, as hardly any of the new systems has IDE any more

trust me, the driver was loaded. the driver is loaded immediately after you press enter at the cdrom option. its impossible that the driver was not loaded. however, sata drives are no ide drives and the cdrom driver is an ide cdrom driver and cannot detect sata drives.

yes, i am sure, its a sata drive. especially you run win7, so i think the hardware is not old.

NO, the hardware is very new, correct

Will SATA be ever supported?

sebus

Elmar

at the moment, i don't think that sata cdrom drives will be supported, but who knows.

sebus

Thanks, that makes the end of my "project"

Maybe I will try to make it boot from USB instead, hope this could work
