Title: Trouble with Plop
Post by: smackmanic on August 01, 2010, 15:42:56 PM
I am attempting to use Plop because my CD/DVD drive and floppy disk drive both have failed, and I need to boot a USB as it contains a live distro of ubuntu.

Obviously, my bios does not support booting from USB.

I'm using windows xp... for the life of me contig will not defrag the file that needs it. I've also used WinContig. Wincontig actually says it IS defragged, but it still does not work.

If I could only get Plop working....I don't know, it's driving me crazy.

"if plpbt.bin is compressed by the file system, then remove the compression of the file." I'm not sure what you mean.

Clusters for file C:\plop\plpbt.bin
VCN: 0 LCN: 90130 LEN= 9
VCN: 9 Virtual LEN: 7

Error: The boot manager file plpbt.bin is fragmented!
etc.

contig plpbt.bin

Summary:
Number of files processed: 1
Number of files defragmented: 0
All files were either already defragmented or unable to be defragmented.

(Again, note, WinContig says it is defragged...it must not be truthful,eh?)

How did your cd drive fail? If possible then try cleaning the lense with isopropyl alcohol.
