This is on a IBM Tpad T42. 60GB HDD with just 1 partition.
I created a Plopkexec diskette ( for the purpose of booting my T42 from a USB CD_ROM ),
I booted the diskette, and it worked fine. Rebooted to windows XP, no problem. Connected the USB CD_ROM with a bootable Bart PE CD and booted the Plopkexec and selected the CD_ROM, and saw Bart disk boot as normal, all OK, test complete.
Booted back to Windows XP for some normal usage, and then powered down. Upon powerup ( first cold boot since using the Plopkexec diskette ) I received this error msg:
LZMA data is corrupt
-- system halted
An attempt to do a backup (before I did any attempted repair) showed a C:\ drive of just 1.41 MB, the size of a diskette image! ...What the hell happened here??
I saved the MBR to a file (MBR-in-hex image below), and not only is the boot code changed but the partition tables are gone also, however the MBR signature bytes '55AA' are there as you can see. And of course FAT 12 (in the image below) is the format of 3.5 floppies..?
Do any of you Plop experts understand what happened? And more importantly, how to recover my Windows XP partition?
If you need further info or data, please just ask. So far, I have not done anything destructive for repair, just made a copy of MBR, tried my backup program (DriveImageXML ).
Thanks, Jeff

hello,
are you sure that xp booted after you created the floppy?
how did you write the image to the floppy?
regards
elmar
You have to write the image of the Floppy
by yourself?
