Hello
First I have to say Im Japanese, not native English speaker. So I could make mistakes in writing or spelling Sorry
Now,Im in trouble with plpbt.bin
I downloaded plpgenbtldr-0.8.zip,unzipped it,made a folder:C:\plop,copied plpgenbtldr.exe and plpbt.bin to the folder and ran cmd and plpgenbtldr.exe
Then cmd said "the boot manager file plpbt is fragmented!"
So I downloaded and use 'contig' as cmd said.
But contig said "All files were either already defragmented or unable to be defragmented"
Now what shall I do?
post the screenshot of disc view and location of file
Does this screenshot, location.bmp, satisfy your request?
no, i want the same like in your first post, but without the black console window in the front
I'm sorry.
Is this?
yes
in diskview, do you find the info how long a block is?
Yes I did.
But I cannot say I took no mistakes.
Please give me an example for how to use this info.
i simply want to know the size, or is it a secret?
Size? Which size do you mean?
the size of a block, 4k ,8k or whatever
I dont know how to check it
its in one of the tabs of diskview. i assume diskinfo, but look at all.
I can't perceive which is that.
So I took a screenshot of diskinfo.
Just to make sure, the size of plpbt.bin is 43k
is the drive compressed by windows?
yes,I compressed my HD:Cdrive by Win.

ok, thats the problem. you have to know, the option to start the boot manager from the windows boot menu is only an additional way to start the boot manager and not the primary way. personally, i don't recommend that option, however, people like it and its used a lot. it does not work on compressed drives, because i have no knowledge of the windows compression algorithm and it would mean a lot of work to implement it. when the boot manager is started from the windows boot menu, then there is no operating system in the background that helps anything (reading files, compressed or not), so only uncompressed volumes, or more specific plpbt.bin must not be compressed on the file system, are supported.

Thank you for solving my problem.
I'll give up starting the boot manager but I'll use the CD mounted plpbt.iso.
use winconfig it has an gui easy to use
