Title: W7: always getting "Error loading plpbt.bin"
Post by: sbreit on November 01, 2011, 16:34:50 PM
Hi there!

I'm trying to install the Plop Boot Manager on my Windows 7, I always end up with

"plpbtldr.bin: Error loading plpbt.bin

Press any key to reboot..."

I'm tryin' to start Plop trough the Windows 7 bootloader.

Here is what I did so far (as far as I can remember):

As I still end up with the same error message, I'm kind of stuck here...

As a last measure, I'll try to tidy up my Windows boot environment, but I don't think that this will resolve anything.  :(

No, not really. The only thing I can think of is that I'm running from a SSD drive, but I installed Windows 7 myself (meaning I didn't use some kind of restore image or something).
My Installation is not only C:, but also Device\HarddiskVolume1, so nothing unusual here (I think).

I've re-installed Plop using InstallToBootMenu.bat, and I ended up with a C:\plop-Directory containing:

If I run and then select v, this is what I get:

Command (? for help): v
Using bcdedit mode
Boot manager loader: c:\plop\plpbt4win.ldr
BIN file: c:\plop\plpbt.bin
Menu entry name: Plop Boot Manager
Debug mode: on

I'll give it a reboot right now (it's the machine that I'm posting from...).

Bye

Well, I don't know what that changed, but Plop seems to boot fine now.

Now I'll have to figure out how to configure it according to my needs.  :D
