Title: Source code of either PBM 5 or PBM 6 for coreboot opensource BIOS
Post by: mikeb on January 20, 2026, 14:32:12 PM
Good day, Elmar! 7 years ago I submitted this humble request (https://forum.plop.at/index.php/topic,1846.msg7446.html#msg7446) to opensource PBM 5. Then I waited 5 years in anticipation checking your website from time to time, but it turned out that a new PBM 6 sadly is closed source too, with no obvious reasons in sight...

Considering that PBM 6 has been released recently, please could you opensource at least the 13 years old PBM 5 ? Hope you aren't waiting it to turn 18 before releasing him from the house ;D Unfortunately, at the moment the Feature Table at Boot Managers (https://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagers.html) page goes like this:

PBM 5: can be started from a floppy - YES, open source - NO
PlopKexec: can be started from a floppy - NO, open source - YES
PBM 6: can be started from a floppy - YES, open source - NO

coreboot+SeaBIOS opensource BIOS supports adding the virtual floppy images, and it makes me sad to see that none of your boot managers have "YES" in these two fields

Best regards,
Mike Banon,
