I have some trouble with my harddrive and want to errorcheck it. I have tried with chkdsk but it just stops after a few seconds. Is there any other command to try?

when you want an answer, then give more infos. nobody knows anything about your computer. what file system do you have, does chkdsk stop with any info, are there any infos when you try to mount it, do you see any infos about the file system problem with dmesg?
