when you use windows and you dont care about the data on the usb drive then go to Control Panel –> System and Maintenance –> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management –> Disk Management
select your usb drive and create a new partition.

unplug the usb drive
bootup ploplinux from cd
when you are on the commandline then plugin the usb drive
you will see some infos. one of the info is like sdb or sdc or so
run "fdisk /dev/sdb" , replace sdb with that what you have seen
press "n" enter
press "p" enter
press "1" enter
press enter for the default values
when you see again "command..." then press "t" enter
press "1" enter
press "7" enter
press "w" to write the changes

reboot by pressing ctrl alt del and you should be able to format the drive in windows

when you want to have the data of the usbdrive, then dont do what i wrote above.

when you didn't destroy anything on the usb drive with your recovery tries, then all the data is unchanged on the drive. its only required to write the correct values to the mbr. but cannot tell you the steps in this forum. your reply time is too slow for me to work.
