Title: hal.dll is missing or corrupted.
Post by: Sohi on July 18, 2011, 23:47:30 PM
1.) I was installing boot manager in windows xp, It was fine until I ran plpgenbtldr
Clusters for file: C:\Documents and Settings\$ohi\plop\plpbt.bin
Failed to open file: C:\Documents and Settings\$ohi\plop\plpbt.bin
press any key to continue
2.) And then I restarted my pc, I got a boot option of plop and when I pressed enter I got this:
hal.dll is missing or corrupted something like that.
Please help.

Solved: As mentioned in the manual, I was trying to rename plpinstc.com to plpbt.bin but it did not work. But then i copied the plpbt.bin file already present in the install folder and it worked. I think the manual should be updated accordingly.

This is how the manual looks like:
"Create a directory like c:\plop. You can use any directory you want.

Copy plpinstc.com and plpgenbtldr.exe to your c:\plop directory.

Rename plpinstc.com to plpbt.bin."
But thanks for this great tool Elmar, appreciate your work.

and this works since years when you want to install the boot manager to the mbr with the windows boot menu.
