Title: booting from external hdd
Post by: bigg on December 09, 2010, 11:48:53 AM
Hello,

I'm trying to boot windows xp from my external hard drive connected to my laptop via usb 2.0
If i replace the hard drive and put it inside my laptop, it works fine, so there is nothing wrong with the hdd. However when I try to boot it via USB, it does not work.

I get the following message when trying to boot:

Load Profile Data
MBR: CHECK...

and then hangs there.

Is there a solution to this problem? I was successful booting to an actual USB flash drive, but i cannot boot to a usb hdd.

Another weird thing, although not important is that PLOP only "sees" two partitions in my internal hdd, even though there are 3. All 3 are NTFS. its weird but of no importance... maybe there is some issue though?

Thanks for your help  :)
