Vista + Multiboot, Help needed
« on: May 10, 2010, 12:33:15 PM »
I have 4 partition in my laptop. In the 1st - I had XP.
2nd partition I made free and formatted. (till now not installed vista)

Installed - PLOP to hard disk from XP.
Configured the boot manger. made a profile for xp,
another profile for vista. (1st Partiton Cleard by pressing C, 2nd - bootable, by pressing B, 3rd and 4th as dont touch).
after rebooting, I pressed Vista profile - which hang since no vista installed.
So I put the VIsta boot CD in drive and restarted and proceeded the Vista installation and completed.

HERE COMES THE PROBLEM.
Once the vista is installed, I cannot see the boot manager.
If i started with PLOP boot CD in drive, and when i press setup, I get the message - cannot save the setting!.
So how to update the MBR?

please help!.

as i told you in the email, you are using the wrong cd.

  • download the latest boot manager version from the top of the page http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagerdl.html
  • extract the files from the zip file
  • burn the cd with the iso file install\plpbtin.iso
  • boot the cd and use the second option (write mbr loader only) to activate the boot manager start when you boot
