5.0.14
Which one should I use?

The PC in question, the reader
cd damaged, but has the
floppy. So the only thing that
I can use, 'the floppy.
Obviously I have another pc
available to create a
floppy suited to solve the
question ..
The priority 'now and' start of
New Windows to save the
Data ...

I have tried with floppy DOS and start command fdisk /mbr but not resolved the problem.

or if you can no longer
restore mbr to start
WIndows, at least we can try
to boot from USB? so '
I start Ubuntu, and save
HD data and then I can
install the new system
operating.
The problem 'that has no USB
boot screen remains BLACK with
flashing dash.

Elmar

before you try to fix anything by yourself create a floppy with http://download.plop.at/files/plopkexec/plopkexec.img

then you should be able to boot a linux from usb

when linux is up then post the output file hda.bin of
dd if=/dev/hda of=hda.bin count=200
as attachment here (use the additional options when posting)

Hello Elmar thank you for the valuable help.
Good news...., I managed to start the Ubuntu live with the file you linked above.
Non found /dev/hda  i change with /dev/sda
The hard disk is 40GB in /dev/sda (report from fdisk -l)

Is correct file .bin ?

What do I do now?
thanks

Elmar

is the windows installed on a fat32 partition?
what do you see when you want to start from the hard disk?

eril

No windows XP is installed NTFS
When I turn the pc reboots continually.
In gparted hard disk 40gb with windows xp is "unallocated"

Elmar

sda.bin tells me that there is one fat32 partition with about 2gig. but you say that fdisk says its the 40gig hard disk

boot up again your linux and post the file dmesg.txt
create dmesg.txt with "dmesg > dmesg.txt"

eril

Elmar

sdb is a 2gig drive, so you posted the sectors of sdb instead of sda

eril

i try enter this text
dd if=/dev/sda of=sdaone.bin count=200

dd if=/dev/sda1 of=sdatwo.bin count=200

is correct? you will find information on the HD of 40gb?

Elmar

did you ever use the uninstall option in the boot manager install program?

eril

yes complete uninstall but the problem persistens (to start reboots continually)

yes complete uninstall ...

ok, this explains everything.

you also installed the boot manger to the usb drive (maybe by mistake) -> that created a new backup -> when you did the complete uninstall then you selected the internal hard disk as destination disk and the install program took the backup file that now has the sectors of your usb drive and restored them to the hard disk -> thats why your hard disk is no longer booting. and thats the reason for the wrong 2gig fat32 partition in the partition table

eril

Ok! But now how do I fix this problem? I need to retrieve important files that were on Windows.
Is possibile save the my important file?

The last thing I wanted to ask.
I used the floppy to boot the usb boot Linux, it also works to start WIndows XP?
Or is some other version of Plop?

Elmar

yes thanks, i got the donation.

plopkexec can only be used to boot linux.

best regards
elmar

eril

Which should I use to boot XP?

Elmar

try with the plop boot manager (running from a floppy) pressing shift-u in the main menu. when it works, then it will be very slow.

eril

This http://download.plop.at/files/bootmngr/plpbt-5.0.14.zip ?
After I opened the file. Zip
which file should I put the floppy?
