Hi,

please help me, I just don't get it.

My testing environment is VirtualBox on a macbook, Leopard.

I have 2 partitions with FreeDos and want 3 profiles:

Profile1: boot HDA1, HDA2 visible
Profile2: boot HDA2, HDA1 visible
Profile3: boot HDA2, HDA1 completely invisible (cleared)

First, I set up the partitions with Ranish Partition Manager.

Then I made a full install from plpbtin.iso.

The settings:

hda1:
BP 80 00 01 01 0E FE 3F 04 - C1 3E 00 00 04 FB 00 00

P1 00 00 01 01 0E FE 3F 04 - C1 3E 00 00 04 FB 00 00
P2 80 00 01 05 0E FE 3F 08 - C5 39 01 00 04 FB 00 00
P3 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
P4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

hda2:
BP 80 00 01 05 0E FE 3F 08 - C5 39 01 00 04 FB 00 00

P1 00 00 01 01 0E FE 3F 04 - C1 3E 00 00 04 FB 00 00
P2 80 00 01 05 0E FE 3F 08 - C5 39 01 00 04 FB 00 00
P3 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
P4 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Profile1:
HDA *80h  don't touch
          don't touch
          don't touch
          don't touch

HDB       don't touch
          ...
          ...

Profile2:
HDA       don't touch
    *80h  don't touch
          don't touch
          don't touch

HDB       don't touch
          ...
          ...

Profile3 not set yet, because not even #1 and 2 are working:

Whatever profile I choose, partition2 keeps booting.

What am I doing wrong?

Best,

Stefan

choose instead of "don't touch" the required partition

Thank you very much for your answer!

It was just a stupid interface problem. I was going over VNC and for some reason the return key failed at this point, so I didn't get the partition list to choose from.

Anyway, now I can confirm what a great tool this is! Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you very much for your work!

It can't be emphasized enough that your boot manager allows us to have a pool of up to 16 primary partitions which we can combine freely to up to 16 profiles (as always, maximum 4 primary partitions at a time, of course)!

Thanks again,
best,

Stefan

P.S. just FYI on my screen there is no cursor or highlighting in Text mode, Setup > partitions > edit partition > view/edit/copy data. Not much of an issue once I realised what's going on there. And there is always graphic mode to switch to. Looking forward to using Plop in real life!
