Set CD-ROM Speed

I use PLoP Boot Manager to boot linux from cd which results in a lot of noise
Is it possible to setup plop to decrease the drive speed ?

it is not possible from plop
may be achived by modifying initrd.gz and adding hdparm utility
and further modifying linux-live init scrips
to include in some place

hdparm -E 24 /dev/XXX

where XXX is different /dev/sr0 or /dev/scd0 or /dev/hdc ?
i have tryed this approach , it was not really functioning (old drive)
depends on live cd
